Even as a second time mom, any kind of transition with your baby is overwhelming. The transition from bassinet to crib is just as nerve-wracking as the transition from hospital to home. Check out more about the HALO Bassinest we used and loved HERE. I loved having my new little babe in my bedroom with me for the first few months. Those first few months of time were crucial for bonding and mealtimes.
I have absolutely learned, as I was told previously, that every pregnancy and each child is different. With my first born we moved her over to her crib right on her 3rd month. She was sleeping through the night right away. She loved her crib and although I would stare at the monitor and cry while she snoozed away, she was perfect. With my second child, things have been quite different.
They say if it isn’t broke then don’t fix it, my first loved sleeping in a SleepSack. My second little babe is following in her sister’s footsteps and wearing a SleepSack as well. It allows me to keep her warm at night, without the worry of an actual blanket. Making sure your baby is safe is always top of mind for parents; especially while sleeping.
Another bedtime soother we have been using is the Halo SnoozyPod. This miracle device helps soothe your baby to sleep with mesmerizing lights, vibrations and gentle tunes. It is designed to help with the transition from bassinet to crib. Or if you have an older child, this would help for the transition from crib to toddler/twin bed. Since she was used to these features in the bassinet, this allows her to have the same features in her crib.
The setup was quite simple and easy, it only took a few moments. My husband actually read the directions, let’s give him a round of applause for that one! I don’t play around when it comes to my babies and made him read it for proper installation. Technically, it was super easy and I could’ve done it myself but hey, he’s home and willing to help- so I’ll take it!
A great feature of the SnoozyPod is that it is Bluetooth enabled for iOS and Android, which allows me to use it from anywhere in the house. I have always used white noise for my kids because it helps keep outside noises to a minimum and helps in the afternoon with nap time as well. I can get housework done while they sleep as long as the white noise is running.
The SnoozyPod fits snuggly under the mattress leaving a safe, flat, firm surface for your child to comfortably sleep. It creates a calming vibration, soothing nature and womb white noise sounds plus starry-night projection light create the perfect environment to help your child fall and stay asleep. The starry-night projection uses a soft amber LED light because research shows amber light does not interrupt our body’s circadian rhythm.
We still have not been able to get a full night’s sleep, meaning through the night without waking just yet. I was told I was really lucky with my first being able to be sleep through the night right at 3 months. I don’t believe in letting them “cry it out”, so we will just be taking this transition a little slower than previously before but with the help of her SleepSack and SnoozyPod she will be comfortable and happy in the meantime.
