Bob’s Red Mill believes in making our world a better place through small acts of kindness. This holiday season my tiny tot is finally big enough to get into the kitchen with me for a holiday tradition, making holiday cookies. I’m not sure which part she loves more, baking, decorating or eating them.
Did you know that Psychologists have found that baking for others promotes a sense of wellbeing and benefits the baker as much as, if not more, than the recipient. (Read More Here)
Ingredients:
1 cups granulated sugar
1 egg
3-1/4 cups Bobs’ Red Mill Organic All Purpose Baking Flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup butter, softened (2 sticks)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Step 2
Allow all ingredients to come to room temperature before using. In large bowl, beat butter and sugar with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and extracts. Mix flour, baking powder and salt; add to butter mixture 1 cup at a time, mixing after each addition.
Step 3
On floured surface, roll each ball into a circle approximately 1/8 in. thick. Dip cookie cutter in flour before each use. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet 8-11 minutes.

Make sure to dip your cookie cutter into flour each time

I like to use a pie cutter to lift and place the cookie onto the baking sheet. I also add flour to this.

Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack

Those cookies are adorable and made with love! I didn’t know Bob’s Red Milk has organic flour. Thanks for the tip!
These look so good! I will be excited when my little ones are big enough to help in the kitchen! I love how you all decorated them too – just enough icing without too much! And what a great tip to dip the cutter in flour each time – I bet that really helps! I’m planning to make sugar cookies this week!
#bakesgiving! I love it! Thank you for the recipe and for the fun fact! Definitely makes sense now why my mom loves baking so much!
I would LOVE to receive some home made cookies on Christmas. The ones you made look delicious, and your little baking assistant is adorable!
