This parenting thing gets easier with each kid, WRONG! My gosh, bringing home my second little bundle of joy, I thought…I got this. Diapers, wipes, onesies, I know what I am doing this time. Fast forward to just shy of one week home with baby girl and we were sitting in the ER with so much confusion. My little babe was having GI issues… Her tummy was always upset.
I had already begun supplementing breast milk with formula because I was unable to produce enough to keep her sustained. When I called and spoke with my pediatrician, I explained her GI issues.
After explaining that she had to be sitting upright after eating, that I had learned this from my first colic baby a few years prior, I knew she had colic as well. (Colic is a possible indication of cow’s milk allergy. Colic may occur as a delayed reaction within a few hours or days of consuming cow’s milk protein.)
The doctor confirmed this and encouraged me to continue with the methods I was using. When I explained the issues with her tummy, I explained that my firstborn was on soy formula, and that maybe this one needed the same.
After trial and error, we were back at the pediatrician’s office with frustrations and the same tummy troubles. My doctor then asked if I had tried Nutramigen® with Enflora™ LGG®. He explained that Nutramigen® was the only nutritionally complete, hypoallergenic formula with LGG probiotic for babies with cow’s milk allergy. It’s easy-to-digest and reduces gas, crying and disturbed sleep (due to cow’s milk allergy) for a happier, better rested baby and mom. He sent me home with a sample supply to try. Within 24 hours, she was a whole new baby!
Her entire demeanor changed; she was cooing and smiling. We had finally found out what the issue was. She continued on Nutramigen® until she was 9 months old and then her doctor recommended weening her towards a soy-based sensitive formula. Luckily, because of my doctor’s recommendation to use Nutramigen®, she was able to grow to be a happy toddler. For more information visit www.nutramigen.com or call 1-800-BABY123.
Babies with cow’s milk allergy may have a range of indications of which colic could be just one. It’s important for your doctor to determine if your baby has cow’s milk allergy, so you can start managing the allergy right away.

Thanks for this wonderful guide. There is this question on baby colic and how to take care of it. I know there are a lot of products out there to help soothe colic in a baby. But what if the mother is so busy (usually with work) and can’t really make use of a specific product such as a carrier or swaddle blanket? What do you advise in such a situation? Thanks.
