Bedtime has been a struggle, the only thing that keeps my sanity is the routine. Now that we have a little baby and a tiny tot to get ready for bed, things can get hectic. When my little ones know what comes next and know what to expect, it helps.
My tiny tot was once lucky enough to get a sweet lullaby, a book read to her and a kiss goodnight. These days we are juggling bedtime with her and her sister. Their bedtimes are also drastically different. My toddler can get herself dressed and set up her room as she desires. She has certain stuffed animals, night lights, a noisemaker and a fan she likes to have on. My little babe obviously requires my undivided attention and a bit more work.
One thing that both my kids have always loved, is bath time. Having a good head to toe wash without parabens & dyes is important because both my children have incredibly sensitive skin. This JOHNSON’S® baby naturals HEAD-TO- TOE® wash is perfect because it creates a thick lather and safe for my babies eyes & skin.
We learned quickly that zip up pajamas and onesies were the best bet. She also sleeps in a sleep sack, we refer to this as a “zippy” in our house. My daughter will not sleep without it, trust me…I’ve tried. She immediately goes down after bath time, so we try to keep things mellow. She has a small lamp on her changing table that we use for lighting. She also uses a noisemaker and a humidifier that we run nightly. Once she is all dried off and diapered, I use the JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME™ baby lotion to soothe her skin and give her a quick mini massage. I brush her hair with soft bristle brush and place her into her bed. She has a Baby Einstein Sea Dreams Soother, it plays soothing melodies with lights and motion. We turn it on and give her a pacifier and leave the room. She has learned to put herself to sleep, which makes this bedtime routine easier.
This then frees up my time for my tiny tot. She loves brushing her teeth, especially at night. Mainly because she uses it as a reason to stall going to bed. She would brush her teeth 10 times if I let her.
We haven’t taught her how to sip water and spit after brushing because there just isn’t a non messy way to get this done. She uses a small amount of organic and fluoride free toothpaste that is safe for her. I use a JOHNSON’S® Hand & Face Wipes to wipe her face once she finishes brushing her teeth.
They’re incredibly soft and don’t irritate her sensitive skin or burn her eyes.
After teeth brushing is her favorite "Elsa" activity, which is brushing her hair. Believe it or not, we have never cut her hair and it is now finally getting long enough to brush and braid. Due to her “Elsa” obsessed, she is constantly wanting different hairstyles throughout the day. This causes a night time detangling session with JOHNSON’S® NO MORE TANGLES® spray. We don’ wash her hair every single day but I use the spray both when it is wet and dry.
Once teeth are brushed and hair is combed we then allow her to clean her ears. She has watched my husband and I do this many times. She is currently in a “I’m a big girl, I do it myself” stage. I purchased these JOHNSON’S® safety swabs to allow her to use. They’re shaped specifically for children, which is safer for a “big girl” to use.
All these bedtime tools I snagged through Walmart.com and did the free 2 day shipping. Choose from millions of select items online – no membership needed! FREE on orders of $35 or more.
Checkout was easy and all my items arrived on time. My delivery men and I are on a first name basis due to my online shopping habits. Carl said to me as he passed my Walmart over and said “You’ve got a good one here!”. I’m thinking Carl was right!
