Love is in the air & Valentine’s Day is just a few days away. This cute step by step cake tutorial did not take long, and I was able to keep my little one around to assist. Check out this sweet treat!
Valentine's Day Heart Cake
Ingredients
- Confetti Cake mix ingredients
- 9 ′ round pan
- 9 ′ square pan
- Whipped Frosting
- Assortment of sprinkles
Instructions
- Create the batter as instructed on the box
- Evenly pour the batter into each pan (about 2 cups each)
- Once done baking, allow each to cool.
- Slice the round cake evenly down the middle and add to the square cake (at an angle)
- Place each half of the round cake at the top sides of the square, in a diamond shape.
- Start frosting and grab some little helpers to decorate.
Create the batter as instructed on the box:
I actually did not have the oil that the recipe called for. So I supplemented apple sauce instead, YUM! It makes cakes so moist and if you’re wondering, no it does not take on the taste. You can’t tell, promise!
Evenly pour the batter into each pan (about 2 cups each)
Then take out any aggression you have by (lightly) banging the pans on the counter to ensure the batter has spread evenly in the pan.
Once done baking, allow each to cool.
The recipe called for different baking times due to one being glass and one being dark, however the dark pan cake was completed before the glass dish. Which was opposite of the directions on the box.
Use a toothpick in the center to determine when the cake is completely cooked through.
Slice the round cake evenly down the middle and add to the square cake (at an angle)
Now this is where I realized that my cake pan dimensions were actually different and one was 1′ larger than the other. If you use pans that are the exact same dimensions, then you won’t have this problem. I used a sharp knife and sliced off the excess. Some of the excess found its way into the mouth of a nearby toddler.
Start frosting and grab some little helpers to decorate
Now you are done! As my daughter says TA DAAAHH!
Grab a slice or share with your Valentine!
