There are 3 components to the Owlet device, the sock, the base and the app. When we first received our device my little one was still kicking around in my tummy. Since she’s arrived the new sock 2 design was released. Although we initial used the previous one, this review is based off the newly designed sock.
The sock wraps around the heel and across the foot. In our experience we noticed that the new design helps keep sock from being kicked off. All socks come in their signature mint color. Which is totally gender neutral and perfect. I just love the color. Each sock has the clear windows to allow the sensor to work through the sock. One downfall that I have is that the sock should be charged daily, but it only takes about 1 hour to do so. It is designed to fit babies up to 18 months.
The dock is light weight and portable if necessary. The rim around the base station is what displays the ring color for each notification. Your app will detail for you what each color means. I love that you can hold down the base stations top button it will allow the light to dim which keeps from their being a bright light in the bedroom. I have enough light shinning in from the baby monitor as it is. I do not need my nightstand looking like a NASA launch desk.
The app is my favorite feature because there is so much information packed into it.. You can check the readings, troubleshoot and learn about all the features. You can even live chat with someone on the app if necessary.
When I initially moved over to the new smart sock, my readings were not coming through. It kept saying she was wiggling then showing “–” as the reading. I did a live chat and an associate was able to connect to my device via the server. It was requested that I plug it into the base for a few short moments to allow it to update. Once it updated the readings came through just fine.
