Commonly called the Sunshine State, Florida is one of the top destinations for beach getaways. With over 1100 miles of coastline, Florida is lined by breathtaking clear beaches featuring fine-powdered sand and a plethora of activities for visitors to enjoy.

There is literally a beach to suit travelers of all kinds in Florida. From secluded beaches to crowded party beaches to surfers’ shores and family-friendly escapes, Florida has it all. If you are embarking on a beach vacation to Florida anytime soon, you should not miss this list of top 10 beaches in Florida:

The Top Beaches to Visit in Florida

South Beach

This 2.2-mile stretch of white sand makes up the most famous beach in Florida, and for all the right reasons.

During the day, you can watch crowds having fun at the beach, and at night, it turns into a party space. The historic Art Deco is another highlight that makes South Beach stand out among the rest. For tennis, bicycle rides, and fishing, you can also head over to Haulover Park nearby.

To truly take in the vibes of South Beach, consider staying at one of the hotels at the beach.

The Top Beaches to Visit in Florida

Fort Lauderdale Beach

Fort Lauderdale Beach somehow resembles the beautiful Miami Beach as both are always crowded with people.

The beach is located in the busy area of Fort Lauderdale, and people usually visit to jog or walk along the boardwalk or soak up under the sun. Many events from concerts to street performances to parties are held at Fort Lauderdale Beach or on the boardwalk throughout the year. Apart from swimming, you can enjoy other activities such as jet skiing, scuba diving, and snorkeling.

Cocoa Beach

If you want to surf, head straight to Cocoa Beach. This beach offers waves that are safe and easy to ride for both beginners and expert surfers.

If you are interested in kiteboarding, Cocoa Beach provides some of the best flatwater riding opportunities in Florida.

Moreover, Cocoa Beach is considered one of the best beaches in Florida for families. Some attractions nearby that your kids will love to explore include the Kennedy Space Center and some art, space-themed, and natural sciences museums scattered around the area.

The Top Beaches to Visit in Florida

Bowman Beach

Those looking for a secluded beach away from the crowds should not miss the breathtaking Bowman Beach on Sanibel Island.

This beautiful coastline draws hundreds of sailors and windsurfers year-round. Moreover, Bowman Beach is considered an excellent spot for collecting shells.

Other activities that you can enjoy here include canoeing and windsurfing in its gentle waves. However, most people love walking barefoot on the white sand admiring the stunning coastal views and picking up cockles and conches along the way.

Pensacola Beach

Looking for a bit of everything at one beach? Head to Pensacola Beach!

This sugar-white beach with clear blue waters draws fishing lovers, beach goers, and environmentalists from across the world.

Walk through the boardwalk and you’ll come across several restaurants and stores selling souvenirs and all other sorts of goodies. After spending some time on the beach, dine in at one of the waterfront restaurants on the beach and nearby places. Most of the restaurants serve fresh seafood, but you’ll also find other food on the menu including pizza and barbecue.

Caladesi Island State Park

This untouched, undeveloped breathtaking island is not known to many people, making it a must-see if a quiet and secluded beach is what you’re after.

Those who are lucky to visit this little piece of paradise are surprised by its sparkling white sand, emerald waters, and exotic bird sightings. To reach the island, you have to take a ferry from Honeymoon Island State Park or you can enter by foot via Clearwater Beach. Another great way to reach the island is via kayak that you can rent from locals at Honeymoon Island.

Clearwater Beach

A day trip to Clearwater Beach in Florida offers a wonderful escape from the bustling city of Tampa.

Like many other beaches in Florida, Clearwater Beach offers many activities to its visitors. You can swim, go parasailing, enjoy fishing, or if you are not interested in any of these, you can simply lay down on the white sand and soak up the sun. There is a paved walkway that is ideal for running or an evening stroll.

The Top Beaches to Visit in Florida

Jupiter Dog Beach, Jupiter

If you’re traveling with the dogs, head out to the Jupiter Dog Beach, a beach both you and your four-legged friends will love!

Even though it is a dog-specific beach, other people without dogs can also visit. So it is wise to supervise your furry friends at all times. Dogs are expected to be well-trained and behave here, of course!

Venice Beach

Venice Beach is known for containing pre-historic shark teeth, making a scavenger hunt here a super unique way to spend the day.

Aside from getting your paleontologist on, Venice Beach is also a great place to spot wildlife, with many animals being easy to see including shorebirds, turtles, and dolphins. Visitors can enjoy many amenities at the beach, including a picnic area, boardwalks, and volleyball courts.

There is a famous Sharkey’s Restaurant at the base of Fishing Pier, where you can grab quick lunch and drink on a hot summer day.

Panama City Beach

Panama City is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Florida.

Even though this beach draws tourists all year round, it is mostly crowded during the summer months. The beach is ideal for families as there are many attractions nearby for kids, including a marine park, a water park, and water-based activities on the beach.

Many local businesses at Panama City Beach offer exciting activities to visitors, such as diving, boating, paddleboarding, jet-skiing, cruises, and fishing charters.
