Little Babe 6 Month Update

This post may contain affiliate and/or sponsored links. For more information be sure to check out my disclosure policy.

Hey guys! I wanted to jump on here and give you a 6 month update on how we are doing now as a family of 4. This little babe of mine is now sleeping through the night! It only took 6 very long and exhausting months to get there, but boy am I a happy Mama! Not that the bags under my eyes are going away any time soon but hey, I’ll take it.

If you’ve followed me for a while then you are aware that I am lucky enough to be home with my girls. This helps with setting a schedule for them that I can easily stick to. What is working for us is a 8:30 bedtime and she wakes around 5:30AM-6AM for a bottle then goes back to sleep till 8 or so.

I will admit, I went against the pediatricians recommendations ::gasps:: for how she ended up sleeping. The doctor told me to continue feeding her through the night. For me, I could not understand why a formula fed 6 month old would need to eat every 2-3 hours throughout the night. My first born did not need this many feedings. Plus, my child is way over the normalcy on weight and height. She is by no means deprived or starving. I did as any Mama should and I used my own discretion and chose a different method.

Items that we are using and loving:

I began giving her 1 ounce less every night until she was down to just 2 ounces. Once that point came, I started only doing the pacifier. As you can imagine, if she was used to a bottle- a pacifier would not suffice. Initially she was not having it. I was going back into her nursery every 20 minutes to return the pacifier to her mouth. After 2 nights of this, I said ok, not happening. But, it actually began to work. She wanted it less and less, eventually she actually slept through the night!

We have started on puree foods and teething bars. She’s a big lover of all things orange- butternut squash, pumpkin, carrots. She is teething BIG TIME, she already has her bottom 2 teeth and now has 3 coming in on the top at once. She can get pretty irritable during these teething times but usually something soothing to chew on will do the trick. Her favorite thing right now is to watch big sister sing and dance as she claps her hands, which is the sweetest.

Her nursery is still a work in progress, I really need to get some new images up in her room. I did not do a newborn photoshoot session with Ellie, as I did with Kaylen. However, I have tons of photos that I can easily print off and put up. Procrastination at its finest right here! We did get a new nursery rug. I decided to get another Lorena Canals rug because I love them so much. It can be easily washed at home in a conventional washing machine. This is a MOM WIN!

Big sister Kaylen has been amazing! I cannot say enough great things about her and how she is handling her new role. With one in diapers I wanted the other out of them. I am happy to report that we have mastered the potty training for her & she has been getting spoiled with goodies lately. I am still nervous about going public places so she does wear a pull up for outings. Next up will be the over night potty tasks but so far I am happy with the progress we have all made.

When someone says every pregnancy is different and

every child is different, I can 100% agree!

But I wouldn’t change a moment with these two

and my husband for the world!

Aww such a cutie,my baby just turned 6mos too and I am still trying to win at this sleep training. She won’t take the bottle to save my life, so she is still waking up once or twice at night to feed I feel like I kind of spoiled or something lol
