My husband and I are similar in so many ways, however one big difference between us, is our eating habits. I am a HUGE veggie and fruit lover! I could eat a large salad as my entree while my husband would request to have the soup instead. While in college, I had a professor share reasons why we should all be eating healthier and making better dietary decisions. I have not eaten red meat in over 10 years!
This decision has allowed me to venture into exploring new foods through out the years. Living in South Florida I am lucky enough to have access to so many fresh from Florida foods and recipes.
Luckily, my daughter took the best of the both of us. She can chow down on a side of broccoli and then finish off her mini slider burger. My husband now even lets me sneak new fruits and veggies onto his plate as well.
Using Fresh From Florida foods during the winter months is important to our family because most of Florida’s produce is available between October and June. Florida Farmers make it easy for everyone to eat fresh produce year-round.
When we shop, we look for food, produce, seafood, etc. labeled Fresh From Florida. My daughter’s hands down, all time fave: blueberries! This is her favorite Fresh From Florida food that she enjoys during the winter months.
For me, I’m a strawberry lover! I add it to my salads and my morning yogurts with granola and honey. It is the perfect guilt free treat to start my day. A chocolate covered strawberry isn’t a bad way to end a day either!
The Florida Vegetable Pasta is a meal that I can devour for any lunch or dinner! My husband would prefer the Florida Steak Bowl any day! One item neither of us can ever turn down…seafood!
We are both seafood lovers! I recently made a Bang Bang Shrimp recipe that was a huge hit in my house. We love seafood so much, we go to Key West every year for lobster season and dive for fresh lobster together.
We are luck to have access to so many delicious options here in Florida. Follow the Fresh From Florida page on social media and check out their Fresh recipe videos!
