This cause is very close to my heart. Prior to being a blogger and a mommy, I worked in the social work field. I spent many years working one on one with foster kids. I always felt like there was more that could be done. In my county alone, there are on average 120 children coming into foster care per month! Oftentimes, foster children arrive to their foster homes with only the clothes on their back.
I have personally watched children pack a garbage bag of items lying on their floor and leave their home. Understandably so, they are leaving an unsafe home and being placed into a loving and safe environment and time is of the essence.
I can only speak for the foster parents that I have had the pleasure to work with. These foster parents give it their all. Their job is immensely difficult, selfless and rewarding.
Not everyone can be a foster parent, but anyone can help a foster child.
On any given day, there are more than 415,000 children in the U.S. foster care system. And it’s not just adults who can help them get the love and care they need. Kids can make a huge impact by volunteering or helping to raise essential items and monetary donations for local nonprofit foster care organizations in their communities.
We want to recognize these Kid Heroes and are asking parents and friends to submit a photo of their favorite kid hero giving back to local foster kids for a chance to win!
